Hello there! I’m Justina- the creator and owner of Homemade By Harris. When you’re young, you’re constantly asked what you want to be when you grow up. While most kids had no idea, I had the unique situation of knowing exactly what I wanted- to be a baker. After high school I completed VCC’s Baking and Pastry Arts-Patisserie Program, and from there went on to gain years of experience working in the industry. At 32, I can honestly say I’ve worked in my fair share of bakeries, but it took awhile for me to realize that the place I was envisioning, the place I wanted to work most, was this bakery I had created in my mind. Cut to Homemade By Harris- my happy place. A space for me to be myself and create fun, imaginative, and delicious cookies for you and yours to enjoy!
Chicory, which is featured in the logos for Homemade By Harris is a tribute to my Nonno- Gino Balenzano. Chicory was one of the many things he grew in his garden and I have so many memories of cooking with him and sitting down to enjoy a meal together. It’s something so simple but it reminds me of him so much. He was such a big part of my life and our family and I’m glad I could bring a part of him into my business.
